Jean-Marie founded Fendler Salva Partners in 2025, after having created the Trade & Customs practice in DS Avocats in 2001. A former inspector at the General Directorate of Customs, Jean-Marie was General Delegate of the Federation of International Trade Companies in Mechanics and Electronics (FICIME) from 1992 to 2001.
Jean-Marie brings its extensive experience and in-depth expertise in customs law and international trade regulations, as well as unique approach inherited from its various roles as civil servent, trade federation leader and business lawyer.
Beside his work within the firm, Jean-Marie is registered on the lists of arbitrators of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). He is Chairman of the Customs Committee of ICC France and former head of the ICC delegation to the WCO Technical Committee on Customs Valuation. He is a founding member and former Chairman of the Collin de Sussy think-tank.
Jean-Marie teaches in the “International Trade Law” Masters program of Paris 2 Panthéon Assas University, and is widely recognised by clients and amongst peers for its in-depth expertise in customs and trade law. Jean-Marie was appointed Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Mérite for services rendered in strengthening customs–business dialogue.
